The Tucumcari Film Festival invites audiences and filmmakers alike to “Find Your Route Through Cinema” during a year that marks two major milestones: the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and the 250th birthday of the United States.
Set in the heart of historic downtown Tucumcari, screenings take place inside the legendary Odeon Theatre and the Railroad Depot—venues that echo the neon-lit nostalgia and railroad roots of the Mother Road.
Born from the Tucumcari Rawhide Days Film Festival, the event began by honoring Southwestern stories of frontier towns and the free-spirited beatnik culture that helped define Route 66. Today, the festival has expanded its reach, welcoming professional and amateur filmmakers from across New Mexico, the United States, and around the world.
A Route for Every Story
The festival features a wide range of genres, including:
- Visionary science fiction
- Heartfelt comedies
- Authentic westerns
- Powerful documentaries
Each category offers awards recognizing the creative paths filmmakers take to bring their stories to life.
Beyond screenings, the festival encourages community involvement through workshops, sponsorship opportunities, and volunteer participation. Whether you’re sharing your own film, supporting local storytellers, or simply enjoying the show, the Tucumcari Film Festival celebrates the journeys—on screen and on the road—that define the American experience.
