The Tin Can Tourists will celebrate the Route 66 Centennial with a once-in-a-lifetime rolling tribute: two guided caravans traveling opposite ends of the Mother Road and meeting in Texas. Officially recognized by the Route 66 Centennial Commission, this special event runs June 7–14, 2026, bringing together vintage trailers, motorcoaches, and enthusiasts for a nostalgic journey across America’s most storied highway.
The Eastern Caravan will travel from Springfield, Illinois, through Waynesville (MO), Claremore (OK), and Foss (OK) before arriving in Amarillo for the Route 66 Festival. With a cap of 25 vintage rigs, it offers a relaxed daily pace of 200–250 miles and curated sightseeing stops along the way. Participants may caravan the full route or join at any point, and additional travelers are welcome to rally at the final campground in Amarillo.
The Western Caravan departs the Mother Road Museum in Barstow, California, then continues through Seligman (AZ), Gallup (NM), and Santa Rosa (NM) before uniting with the Eastern group in Amarillo. This caravan also follows an easy, steady pace and welcomes additional TCT members to join en route or at the final destination.
Both caravans meet in Adrian, Texas, at the official midpoint of Route 66, then join together for the parade into Amarillo and the multi-day Centennial festivities. Travelers, spectators, and Route 66 fans are encouraged to catch the caravans on the road, join the celebration in Texas, or visit the open house to view these beautifully restored vintage trailers.
