The Top of Texas Heritage Ride is a road cycling event that highlights Amarillo’s landmarks, history, and Route 66 culture while supporting a local cause. Organized by the Amarillo Police Department’s Community Engagement Unit, this inaugural benefit ride raises funds for One Chair at a Time, a nonprofit providing adaptive sports equipment and opportunities for youth and young adults with physical disabilities.
Riders can choose from four distances—10, 20, 37, or 59 miles—each showcasing a curated route past Amarillo icons such as The Big Texan, Slug Bug Ranch, the Barrio Neighborhood, Centennial Plaza, Route 66, John Ward Memorial Park, Cadillac Ranch, Amarillo College, the historic courthouse district, and more. The longest route extends into Oldham County, offering sweeping views of West Texas ranchland, agriculture, and wind energy landscapes.
Combining community pride, fitness, and the heritage of the Texas Panhandle, the Top of Texas Heritage Ride invites cyclists of all levels to experience Amarillo in a new way while contributing to a meaningful mission.
