June 20 - June 28

Event Website

In 2026, the Route 66 Centennial Great Race will travel the length of the Mother Road with a 9-day vintage car rally from Illinois to California. This timed endurance event will feature approximately 130 classic cars, built between 1911 and 1974, competing along the historic route.

The race will make scheduled stops in 17 Route 66 cities, where spectators can see the cars up close, meet the drivers and teams, and take part in community celebrations. The open format creates a unique opportunity for fans to interact directly with participants.

In addition to the main stops, the route will pass through dozens of small towns, bringing the sights and sounds of historic motoring to communities all along Route 66. The Great Race is one of the most anticipated events of the Route 66 Centennial and a rare chance to see history in motion.
