In honor of the Route 66 Centennial, The Pharmacy Gallery & Art Space presents a special exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Bob Waldmire—beloved Route 66 artist, mapmaker, and cultural icon.
A Springfield native and self-described nomadic hippie, Waldmire was known for his intricate, hand-drawn maps and artwork capturing the soul of America’s most iconic highway. His work is filled with rich detail, historical references, and a deep reverence for the road and its landscapes. His legacy lives on through the vibrant, whimsical style that made him a favorite among travelers and preservationists alike.
This exclusive exhibition celebrates his commitment to Route 66’s heritage and his decades-long contribution to its preservation and culture. Visitors can explore original pieces that reflect both the nostalgia and environmental ethos of Waldmire’s unique worldview.
Visit this exhibit at The Pharmacy Gallery & Art Space in Springfield, Illinois. Open Fridays & Saturdays from June 28, 2025, through December 19, 2026, from noon to 6:00pm.
