The Annual Route 66 Gingerbread House Contest, hosted by the Atlanta Public Museum during its Christmas in July event, takes place from June 21 – June 29, 2025, with entries remaining on display for public viewing from June 30 – July 31, 2025.
Gingerbread artists of all ages and backgrounds are invited to compete for over $4,500 in cash and prizes with Route 66-themed edible creations. While the contest is called a “gingerbread house” competition, entries are not limited to houses—any structure representing Route 66 is eligible.
Prizes will be awarded in the Adult, Teen, and Youth divisions, along with special awards for:
🏆 Furthest Traveled
🏆 Most Innovative
🏆 Best Use of the Route 66 Theme
🏆 People’s Choice Award (voting open until July 31)
Contestants must check in their entries on June 21-22, with closed judging from June 23-25. The awards ceremony will take place on June 29 at 2 PM CST.
Public viewing begins June 30, allowing visitors to admire the edible artistry and vote for their favorite. The People’s Choice Award will be announced after voting closes on July 31, 2025.
