April 11 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm CDT

Event Website

Celebrate the grit, heart, and Route 66 legacy of legendary Cherokee runner Andy Payne at the Andy Payne Route 66 Half Marathon & 5K on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Foyil, Oklahoma. This annual Mother Road race honors Payne’s historic victory in the 1928 International Transcontinental Footrace (better known as the Bunion Derby), a grueling 3,423-mile run from Los Angeles to New York City that followed much of Route 66 and cemented his place in American sports history.

Race day begins at the Andy Payne Monument and Memorial Park in Foyil and finishes at the Claremore Museum of HistorY. Participants can choose from a Half Marathon, 5K, One Mile Fun Run, or a Virtual Race. Along the course, runners quite literally follow in Andy Payne’s footsteps.

The celebration continues at the Claremore Museum of History with a lively awards ceremony featuring free runner massages, food trucks, snacks, drinks, selfie spots, and access to the Andy Payne Exhibit and Legacy Gardens, where you can snap a photo with the Andy Payne statue. Participation medals are awarded to all runners, with additional category winner medals up for grabs.
