On Saturday, May 2, Historic Commercial Street—Springfield’s other “Main Street”—takes center stage for a full day of celebration honoring both the 100th Anniversary of Route 66 and America’s 250th Birthday.
From morning through early evening, C-Street transforms into a red, white, and blue showcase of community spirit, heritage, and hometown pride. Patriotic installations and décor stretch from end to end, creating an immersive streetscape that celebrates the roads and rail lines that helped shape Springfield and the nation.
Throughout the district, you’ll find:
- A wide variety of specialty shops, each reflecting the creativity and history of the neighborhood
- A diverse collection of restaurants offering international menus, highlighting the cultures that have enriched America’s story
- Local performers, musicians, artisans, and community groups bringing the street to life
- Family-friendly activities and historic walking tours
- Opportunities to reflect on Missouri’s role in Route 66 history and America’s shared past
With the Jefferson Avenue Footbridge standing nearby as a symbol of connection—by road and by rail—this free event invites visitors to experience the heart of Springfield in full patriotic spirit. It’s a day designed to celebrate community, history, and the enduring legacy of the Mother Road.
