The Wish You Were Here Mural is a large, eye-catching piece of public art in downtown Kingman that celebrates the town’s Route 66 heritage in the style of a classic vintage postcard with bold block letters spelling out *“KINGMAN” filled with imagery of local landmarks and Americana.
You’ll find this mural painted on the side of the Powerhouse Visitor Center at 120 W. Andy Devine Avenue, right on Historic Route 66 in Kingman’s downtown area.
Who created the artwork?
The mural was designed by artist J.C. Amberlyn and executed in 2020 by four young local artists under her guidance in partnership with the Powerhouse Visitor Center and Arizona@Work Mohave County.
When is the best time to visit for photos?
The mural is visible 24/7 from the street, but daytime lighting ( especially in the morning or late afternoon) helps bring out the colors for photos. This Route 66 mural is always visible, but the center is open from 9:00am – 4:00pm.
Is there parking nearby?
Yes, there’s free parking around the Powerhouse Visitor Center and downtown Kingman, so you can easily pull over, walk up to the mural, and take pictures alongside other Route 66 attractions.
