You’ll be cuckoo for Waylan’s Ku-Ku Burger in Miami, Oklahoma—a Route 66 classic that’s been serving up nostalgia and delicious eats for decades.

Step inside this iconic burger joint, and you’ll be greeted by the smell of fresh, hot, made-to-order goodness. The menu is packed with road trip favorites like juicy burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, crispy fries, onion rings, Frito pie, and cool treats like dip cones and limeade. As you dig in, take a look around at the 1950s decor, complete with memorabilia and newspaper clippings that tell the story of this beloved spot.

Outside, the quirky charm continues. A giant green and yellow vintage sign lights up the restaurant’s name and its cheerful bird mascot. The cuckoo clock-shaped roof is topped with a big yellow bird sporting a chef’s hat, and another bird stands near the drive-thru for the perfect selfie spot.

Waylan’s Ku-Ku Burger wasn’t always a one-of-a-kind destination. Back in 1965, it was part of a chain of Ku-Ku Burger restaurants that dotted the country. Today, this Miami location is the last one standing. Since 1973, owner Eugene Waylan has been keeping the tradition alive, often flipping burgers behind the grill himself.
