If you’re wrapping up your Route 66 adventure at the Pacific, you don’t have to go far to find fresh seafood with a view. Since 1977, The Albright in Santa Monica has been serving up classic seaside fare right on the Santa Monica Pier.

The Albright holds the title as the longest-running restaurant on the Pier. Originally opened as Seaview Seafood (later SM Pier Seafood) by Korean immigrants in 1977, it was reimagined in 2013 by their daughter and her husband, Greg and Yunnie Kim Morena. They renamed it The Albright, a nod to a nautical knot that symbolizes strength and connection.

On the menu, you’ll find favorites like fish and chips, clam chowder, lobster rolls, and a rotating catch of the day. Diners can pick a live lobster or crab straight from the tanks, savor fresh oysters, or go all out with a seafood tower. One standout dish, Ms. Kim’s Spicy Seafood Soup, has been a house specialty since the very beginning, loaded with clams, shrimp, mussels, cod, squid, and whole shrimp.

Pair your meal with a California craft beer, a glass of local wine, or a refreshing strawberry lemonade, then settle in at a communal table inside or out on the patio. From there, you’ll enjoy views of the boardwalk and the glow of the Ferris wheel, the perfect spot to toast the end of the Mother Road.

Located on the south side of the Santa Monica Pier, The Albright serves lunch and dinner daily, welcoming travelers and locals with a laid-back, seaside atmosphere.

Know Before You Go

To make the most of your visit to The Albright in Santa Monica, California, here are some things to know before you go.

Where is The Albright located?

The Albright is one of the first restaurants you’ll find when you enter the Santa Monica Pier, on your left side, just before you get to 66-to-Cali and the Route 66 End of the Trail sign.

What is on The Albright’s menu?

The Albright’s menu focuses on fresh seafood like fish, lobsters, and oysters. Their fresh oysters are one of our picks for 66 Must-Eat Dishes on Route 66 and 20 Best Route 66 Foods to Eat in California. Here are some highlights of the menu:

  • Raw Oysters: fresh oysters served by the half dozen
  • Whole Lobster: fresh lobster served with potato salad, corn on the cob, and drawn butter.
  • New England Clam Chowder: a world-famous recipe served in a cup with oyster crackers or in a fresh sourdough bread bowl

  • Connecticut Lobster Roll: knuckle and claw meat with melted butter and chives.
  • New England Lobster Roll: knuckle and claw meat served with signature aioli and chives on a toasted roll.
Is this the official end of Route 66?

Not exactly. The Santa Monica Pier is considered the unofficial end of Route 66, but it has become the place most travelers choose to celebrate finishing the journey. With food, games, rides, and that sweeping Pacific Ocean view, it’s a fitting finale to the Mother Road.

When Route 66 was established in 1926, the official western terminus was in downtown Los Angeles. In 1936, the route was realigned to end at Olympic Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica (that’s the recognized official endpoint and you can still find an end sign and begin sign there).

The Santa Monica Pier remains the symbolic finish line where most road trippers pose with the famous End of the Trail sign and grab a celebratory seafood lunch or dinner at The Albright!

Where can you park near The Albright on the Santa Monica Pier?

Parking is available right on the pier deck (limited hours, Monday–Thursday), or in nearby beach lots ($7–$18 per day) that run from sunrise to sunset. For longer visits, try the Civic Center Garage or downtown Santa Monica parking structures, which offer the first 90 minutes free. Metered street parking is also available throughout the city. If you’d rather skip driving, the Metro E Line drops you just a short walk from the pier or you can walk from any nearby hotel. Find more parking information here.
