Old Trails Garage

Kingman, Arizona

ArizonaRoadside Attraction

The Old Trails Garage in Kingman, Arizona has stood in this location since 1915. J.W. Thompson built the building for M.G. Wagner, who originally had operated the business on South Front Street (now Topeka Street). Before the expanse of Route 66, Old Trails Garage sat on National Old Trails Road and provided service and repairs for the vehicles that traveled through.

The building originally had two additional garage doors and it spread into what is now a restaurant next door, which served as a car dealership showroom. Over the years the garage became affiliated with various franchises, like Buick, Cadillac, LaSalle, Mack Trucks, and even U-Haul trucks.

Today Old Trails Garage remains as one of the oldest remaining auto repair facilities in Kingman and its facade retains its original appearance. Local gas station owner Elmer Graves, who worked at the garage as a teenager, later refurbished the building with historic signage, adding logos of the various auto companies that were once served here. A 1930 Packard sign was also found, restored by Legacy Signs, and reset out front.
