Who was Cyrus Avery?
Cyrus Avery was a Tulsa resident who helped establish U.S. Route 66’s route and founded the U.S. Highway 66 Association, significantly shaping the highway’s path through Oklahoma and embedding it in American travel culture. The plaza honors his role in Route 66 history.
